As announced by Variety.com, Actors Shakespeare Project of Boston will move its past production of "King Lear" Off-Broadway to La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club. Broadway veteran, Alvin Epstein, will star in the title role from June 15 to July 2.

The Off-Broadway transfer will be directed by Patrick Swanson, co-produced by A.S.P. and La MaMa, and will feature the same cast as last fall's production: Allyn Burrows (Kent), Colin Lane (Gloucester), Jennie Israel (Goneril), Paula Langton (Regan), Sarah Newhouse (Cordelia), Benjamin Evett (Edmund), Doug Lockwood (Edgar), Ken Cheeseman (Fool), and Michael F. Walker (Cornwall).

Epstein was named "Best Great Performance New York Missed" by New York Magazine last fall for his performance as the tragic king. Epstein made his Broadway debut in Marcel Marceau (1955) and played Lucky in the American premiere of Waiting for Godot (1956). Epstein was last seen in New York in Atlantic Theater Company's production of Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard. He also appeared in the Irish Repertory Theatre's production of Endgame last January; having played the role of Clov in its American premiere. Epstein is also notable as the Fool in Orson Welles' King Lear at New York's CityCenter (1956).
