The Duplex Cabaret Theatre will welcome Grammy-winner Julie Gold back to its stage, following her sold-out, six-month run in 2005. On Friday, May 26th at 7pm, Gold will present an evening of her own music, accompanied by singers Emily Bindiger and Margaret Dorn. She will also welcome special guest, singer/songwriter Christine Lavin.
Gold is a New York City songwriter best known for Bette Midler's version of her song "From A Distance," which won the Grammy Award for Song of the Year in 1991. She has also written songs for Patti LaBelle, Patti LuPone (who used Gold's song Heaven as her grand finale in her one woman show on Broadway), Kathy Mattea, The Byrds, Judy Collins, James Galway, Lea Salonga, Cliff Richard, Frances Black and many others. Her other songs include "Heaven," "Southbound Train," "Good Night, New York," "Mountain of Sorrow," "Thanks to You" and "Dream Loud." Her songs have been featured in movies such as Andre and Unfaithful, as well as on TV shows. Gold's latest CD is "The Girl I Found," produced by Emily Bindinger. From July December, 2005, Gold broke attendance records at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre with her cabaret performances.Videos
