John Barrowman Injured During Panto Performance in Glasgow

According to the BBC, stage and screen star John Barrowman was recently injured during a performance of Jack and the Beanstalk at the SECC Clyde Auditorium in Glasgow. Barrowman fell off of a live horse during the show, and was not seriously hurt.

An SECC spokeswoman commented: "During today's matinee performance of Jack and the Beanstalk, John Barrowman suffered an injury on stage and has been taken to hospital as a precaution. His understudy, Greg Barrowman, has already stepped in to finish the rest of the show."

The actor has played lead roles in musicals both in the West End and on Broadway, including Miss Saigon, The Phantom of the Opera, Sunset Boulevard and Matador. After appearing in Sam Mendes' production of The Fix, he was nominated for the 1998 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical and, in the early 2000s, returned to the role of Billy Crocker in the revival of Anything Goes. He recently appeared in the 2009 West End production of La Cage aux Folles.

Barrowman is known for his role as Captain Jack Harkness on 'Doctor Who' and 'Torchwood.' He has also released several albums, including 'Music Music Music,' 'Another Side,' and 'Swings Cole Porter.
