J.T. Rogers and Bartlett Sher to Talk OSLO This Month at Drama Book Shop

A friendly reminder! The Drama Book Shop will welcome Tony Award nominees J.T. Rogers and Bartlett Sher for an intimate discussion about their collaboration of Oslo.

The Tuesday, June 20th, 5:00pm event is free and open to the public. The discussion will be followed by a signing with Rogers. Oslo is published by TCG and copies will be available for purchase.

Inspired by the true story of the back-channel talks, unlikely friendships and quiet heroics that led to the 1993 Oslo Peace Accords between the Israelis and Palestinians, Oslo is a deeply personal story set against a complex historical canvas, a story about the individuals behind world history and their all too human ambitions.

Bartlett Sher is a seven-time nominated director. For LCT, his work includes Oslo, The King and I, Golden Boy, Joe Turner's Come and Gone, Awake and Sing!, The Light in the Piazza (Tony nominations); South Pacific (Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle awards; also London, Australia); Blood and Gifts; Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (also London). Broadway: Fiddler on the Roof (Broadway Theatre), The Bridges of Madison County (Schoenfeld). Off-Broadway: Prayer for My Enemy (Playwrights Horizons), Waste (Best Play Obie Award), Cymbeline (Callaway Award, also Royal Shakespeare Company), Don Juan, Pericles (TFANA, BAM). Artistic director of Seattle's Intiman Theatre (2000-2009). Previously company director for the Guthrie Theater and associate artistic director at Hartford Stage. Opera: Faust (Baden Baden); Two Boys (ENO, Metropolitan Opera); Otello, IL Barbiere di Siviglia, Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Le Comte Ory, L'Elisir d'Amore (Metropolitan Opera); Roméo et Juliette (Salzburg, Milan, Chicago, Metropolitan Opera); Mourning Becomes Electra (Seattle Opera, New York City Opera). Upcoming productions include Adam Guettel's new musical Millions and My Fair Lady for LCT.

J.T. Rogers' plays include Blood and Gifts, The Overwhelming, White People, and Madagascar. He was nominated for a 2009 Olivier Award for his work as one of the original playwrights for The Great Game: Afghanistan. He is a 2012 Guggenheim fellow in playwriting. Other recent awards include NEA/TCG and NYFA fellowships, the Pinter Review Prize for Drama, the American Theatre Critics Association's Osborne Award, and the William Inge Center for the Arts' New Voices Award.

The Tony Award-winning Drama Book Shop, currently celebrating its 100th Anniversary Year, is located at 250 West 40th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues. Events are free and open to the public. To learn more, or browse its online bookshop, visit www.dramabookshop.com.
