We are very pleased to launch our first Invisible Dog Theater Residency series. Four companies, chosen by the administration of the Invisible Dog through a competitive application process, will take over our new basement theater for 2 to 4 weeks, engaging the unique topography of our site with unconventional theater pieces that mine the interrelation between past and present. Each of our resident companies will develop new performance works inspired by found texts, sounds, images, and objects, put into conversation with our own time and environment. Public showings will conclude the residencies.

Inspired by community organizing and public fanfare, EMPIRE CITY is a collision of parliamentary procedure, athletic tantrum, and living room chit-chat. [Artists: Michael Silverstone and Abigail Browde]

THERE THERE, inspired by the completely unsympathetic character Solyony from Chekhov's Three Sisters, is a bi-lingual performance installation that dwells on the causes and effects of the wildly inappropriate. [Artist: Kristen Kosmas]

THE ODYSSEY PROJECT explores the eight million odysseys occurring daily in New York, contrasting the mythic poem with the contemporary search for meaning in a chaotic world. [Artist: Jenny Koons] www.odysseynewyork.com

AMERICAN REALISM examines contemporary ennui through the archival voices of depression-era California migrant workers, dissembling notions of realism and investigating the possibilities of reenactment without authenticity. [Artist: Katherine Brook]

Stay tuned for performance dates and information.
