ImprovBoston's STANDUP THROWDOWN Kicks Off 5/2

ImprovBoston's second annual standup comedy tournament, StandUp ThrowDown, unites Boston's best standup comics in a month-long competition to crown the top comic in town. From May 2 - 29, the tournament will dish out laughs on ImprovBoston's two stages, featuring more than 50 local comedians.

A panel of ImprovBoston's veteran comedians judge each round along with the audience, deciding who moves to finals and ultimately takes the title. The champion will headline his or her own run of shows at ImprovBoston, open for a national ImprovBoston Presents Act, receive an invitation to guest teach for the ImprovBoston Comedy School, host acts at the 2015 Boston Comedy Arts Festival, win a year of free shows at the 30-year old nonprofit comedy theater and take home a personalized Shure SM58 microphone.

This tournament, along with performances by nationally-touring comedians Hari Kondabolu, Myq Kaplan, Jimmy Tingle, Nikki Glaser, Jenny Zigrino, Zach Sherwin, Jared Logan, Kara Klenk and Jonathan Katz in addition to frequently sold out StandUp classes and a new weekly free Open Mic Night (Wednesdays at 10PM), highlight ImprovBoston's commitment to showcasing the rich Boston standup scene.

StandUp ThrowDown takes place Saturday and Sunday nights at 9pm from May 2 - 24. The Finals will take place on Friday, May 29 at 10pm. Tickets are available online at improvboston.com.
