Improv meets Indian Jones in Curt Dixon's DIG, a new comedy from the Improvisational Repertory Theatre Ensemble (IRTE) that lets the audience determine the details of a daring adventure tale. Set just prior to the unearthing of a major archaeological discovery, this stylized homage to serial treasure hunters and pulp fiction action heroes takes you deep into the dig site as its plucky heroes embark on an underground exploration. They'll square off against all manner of baddies, cursed artifacts and even a love interest or two along the way, but the specifics of those encounters will be up to you and your fellow onlookers. Mixing taut narrative structure with the unpredictability of improv, Dig brings thrilling old-timey adventure to the Producer's Club in New York,

Celebrating its fifth season, the award-winning group of trained actors work to develop, produce and perform a full season of original themed, theatrically-staged, and character-driven comedy shows based in improvisation and following the basic model of seasonal repertory theatre. IRTE has won praise for elevating the art of improvisational theatre while opening it up to a broader audience of theatergoers. Adding simple costumes, props, and strong characters and you get a very theatrical, raw, ridiculous and irreverent, narrative-driven and completely improvised show that has made a powerful impact around the country

As with all IRTE shows, DIG will also include a musical guest, connecting the theatre-going public, not only to this new form of Improv but to up & coming indie music talents.

Most recently, IRTE performed at the Theatre for the New City's Dream Up Festival, three seasons of the Del Close Marathon, Philadelphia Improv Festival, Boston Comedy Arts Festival, NYC Improv Festival, two seasons of the Unscripted New York Improvised Theatre and Film Festival, Tampa Improv Festival, New Orleans Comedy Arts Festival, and Portland Improv Festival. They enjoyed a residency at Gotham City Improv, and were honored with the 2014 Supreme Honorary Improvised Theater & Film Award for Outstanding Genre Performance by Unscripted New York. They were named one of the "Seven Must-See Shows" of the 2014 Boston Comedy Arts Festival.

The cast of DIG includes Nannette Deasy (founder/artistic director), Bill Berg, Gretchen Grunzke, Brianna Lee, Cedric Lilly, Jamie Maloney and Marcia Sofley.

Each show will include appearances by talented up and comers from the NY indie music scene, including Elijah Tucker (April 15), Mr. David Jay (April 16), TBA (April 22) and Tym Moss (April 23).

DIG runs Fridays & Saturdays, April 15, 16, 22 & 23, at 8:00pm. Tickets $12 (Group Discounts available). At The Producers Club, 358 West 44th Street, New York, NY 10036. For more information, visit http://ow.ly/ZS8Ck.
