IDOL WATCH: Vegas Week

It is the final week of live auditions tonight for the ladies of American Idol before the top 20 is announced.

First up was college student Melinda. Her performance was ok but it was extremely breathy. It was a coincidence that she did sing a Jessie J song because she really reminds me of a younger version of her except her voice is not quite up to par with Jessie's. Three of the four judges also thought the the performance was mediocre.

Early favorite Candice was the next one to fight for her spot in the top 20. She hit all the right notes, high and low, and just gave a fantastic performance of Natural Woman. All four judges loved it and I think at this point it was safe to say that Candice would be moving on.

One of the youngest contestants, 15 year old Juliana, sang Skyscraper by Demi Lovato and it was a lovely rendition. With her pure tone and signature voice the judges seem to agree.

Jett was next with her performance of Rihanna's The Only Girl in the World. Accompanied by a piano, Jett slowed up the tempo which made for a great version of an ok song.

Worhship leader Cristabel was up next. She decided to sing a song by Alicia Keys and I would say that was a good choice for her. Once again it was a slower rendition of the original but I think this worked.

Eighteen year old Brianna took on song that I have never heard before, but I thought it was good none the less. The four judges also thought that it was pretty good.

Country singer Janelle sang Lady Antebellum and did so well. However, towards the end she lost a little bit of the spark she started with. The four judges agreed saying that she tried a little too hard.

Last but not least was the unpredictable Zoanette. Singing The Circle of Life from The Lion King, the larger than life singer really brought it tonight. I think that she is the most unique and entertaining of the female contestants. She recieved a standing ovation from the judges and rightfully so.

Then it came time to eliminate five girls. The lucky five were Zoanette ,Candice, Aubrey, Brianna and janelle. Cristabel, Jett, Juliana, Rachel and Melinda were sent home. Tune into tomorrow night when the spotlight shines on the guys.
