According to Variety, Thomas C. Short, the president of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees will be stepping down from his position.

IATSE has of right now not confirmed any of the information, but rumor has been circulating for months that Short would not be continuing in the position. Some say he could be stepping down as early as this week.

Variety reports, "The public announcement could be made as part of IATSE's general executive board meeting this week, union sources said. Short has a year to go on his four-year term as president, and speculation's emerged that fifth national VP Matthew Loeb will be named to replace Short. Loeb's been division director of motion picture and television production for the past decade."

Short is responsible for more than 110,000 employees and has been in the position since 1994, and IATSE member since 1998. He's recently been butting heads with other Hollywood unions such as WGA and SAG during the past months during periods of strike and contract negotiations.
