Howard, Etc. Set for 2/5 Silence! The Musical Readings

SILENCE! The Musical, winner of the 2005 FringeNYC award for Outstanding Musical, will be presented in two staged readings February 5th at the McGinn/Cazalle Theatre (2162 Broadway).

SILENCE!, an unauthorized parody based on the Academy Award-winning film, The Silence of the Lambs, sold out its entire initial Fringe run before the festival opened, and is the highest-grossing Fringe production to date. With music and lyrics by Jon and Al Kaplan and book by Hunter Bell ([title of show]), SILENCE! follows F.B.I. trainee Clarice Starling as she uses her relationship with Dr. Hannibal Lecter to hunt serial killer Buffalo Bill. "The production transforms the film's dialogue into a full-scale musical, complete with singing serial killers, unprintable titles, and a chorus of tap-dancing lambs," state press notes.

Starring Lortel Award-winner Jenn Harris (Modern Orthodox) as Clarice and Tony nominee Paul Kandel (The Who's Tommy) as Hannibal Lecter, SILENCE! reunites original company members Stephen Bienskie (Cats, Tom Jones), Diedre Goodwin (A Chorus Line, Chicago, Chita Rivra: The Dancer's Life), Jeff Hiller (UCB's Showgirls, VHI, MTV), Lisa Howard (25th Annual Putman County Spelling Bee), and Howard Kaye (Miss Saigon), joined by Tom Richter (Grease). Christopher Gattelli (Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me, Altar Boyz) returns as director/choreographer, with Charlie Alterman (Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me) as music director. Designers Scott Pask (The Pillowman), Jeff Croiter (Kiki & Herb: Alive on Broadway), and David Kaley (Broadway Bares, Joy, The Producers) also return.

Presented by B Major Theatricals, the readings will be presented at 3 and 7pm on February 5th. For more information, contact B Major Theatricals at
