Jennifer Holliday will reprise her Tony Award-winning performance as Effie Melody White in Theater of the Star's upcoming production of Dreamgirls.

The Atlanta theatre company will present Dreamgirls, with music by Henry Krieger and book and lyrics by Tom Eyen, from July 19th through 29th.  Dreamgirls recounts the rise of a Motown girl group called the Dreams, whose lead singer Effie is replaced by the more marketable Deena.  The 1981 classic is currently on screens nationwide as an award-winning film starring Jennifer Hudson as Effie and Beyonce Knowles as Deena; it is directed and adapted by Bill Condon.

Holliday has also starred on Broadway in Grease, Chicago, and in Your Arms Are Too Short to Box with God.  It was recently announced that Holliday will perform Dreamgirls' classic number, "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going," during E! Entertainment Television's "Countdown to the Red Carpet: The 2007 Academy Awards," airing from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Feb. 25.

During its '07-'08 season, TUTS will also present Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (June 26-July 1), The Wizard of Oz (August 4-11), West Side Story (August 21-26), Stomp (September 18-23) and White Christmas (November 6-11).
