Harlem Week Presents Free Community Family Events and Exhibitions 8/14-15

Harlem Week 2010 continues with a weekend of free family-friendly events, games, demonstrations, educational seminars and cultural exhibitions on Saturday, August 14 and Sunday, August 15.
"Summer in the City," which takes place on Saturday, August 14th on 135th Street between Malcolm X Blvd and A.C. Powell Jr. Blvd, offers a variety of activities for the whole family including:NYC Children's Festival: Kids can enjoy live music, dancing, arts & crafts, excerpts from Disney films, healthy eating exhibits and sports & recreational clinics from 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM
National Historic Black Colleges Fair: More than 50 historical Black colleges and universities will be on hand to distribute information on their institutions and scholarship programs to potential students from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM.
Youth and senior citizen swimming exercises and demonstrations from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM at the Hansborough Recreational Center located on 135th Street between Malcolm X Blvd and 5th Avenue."Harlem Day," which takes place on Sunday, August 15th on 135th Street between 5th Avenue and Malcolm X Blvd from 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM includes:
· The Upper Manhattan auto show
· Music performances saluting rhythm & blues, rock, hip hop, reggae, gospel and calypso
· Film tribute to Lena Horne starting at 7:00 PM
· Arts & crafts
· Upper Manhattan small business fair
· "Back to School" - a children's fashion show
