Just in is a statement from Adrian Kohler and Basil Jones of the Handspring Puppet Company on their Special Tony win:

"We felt great joy on hearing the news of this special Tony and are full of pride and gratitude for the work of the puppet makers in Cape Town and the War Horse cast in New York, who, with great dedication and talent, brought the puppets to such vivid life.

We're indeed fortunate to have been part of the War Horse Creative Team and to have enjoyed the support and dedication of the Royal National Theatre and the Lincoln Center Theater.

"We'd like to use this award to pay tribute to puppeteers everywhere who are working to demonstrate what a unique and powerful asset our art form is to the language of Contemporary Theatre. Puppetry is the pop avant garde of Contemporary Theatre where (for example) animals can take their rightful place alongside people as fascinating and fully-fledged theatrical subjects."
