By: Jul. 30, 2012

MSG Entertainment will present Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical for a limited engagement at The Theater at Madison Square Garden beginning Thursday, December 13 through Sunday, December 30, 2012. Celebrate the holidays with this heart-warming classic tale that will entertain the whole family as the show makes its triumphant return to New York City. Tickets go on-sale to the general public on Monday, August 13 at 12PM.

Audiences will have the opportunity to discover the magic of Dr. Seuss' beloved holiday story as it comes to life on stage. Featuring the hit songs "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" and "Welcome Christmas" from the original animated series, The Grinch discovers the true meaning of Christmas in this adored holiday classic. Max the Dog narrates as the mean and scheming Grinch, whose heart is "two sizes too small,” plans to steal Christmas away from the holiday-spirited Whos. The Grinch soon realizes, however, there's more to Christmas than he bargained for.

Embraced by generation after generation, Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical will feature magnificent sets specially designed for The Theater at Madison Square Garden and costumes inspired by Dr. Seuss’ original illustrations, while the Music and Book of Mel Marvin and Timothy Mason breathe new life into this timeless narrative. The Theater at Madison Square Garden has become a top venue for spreading holiday cheer, presenting some of the season's most sought after family productions including Cathy Rigby is Peter Pan, A Christmas Carol, and Wintuk by Cirque du Soleil.

The 2012 production is directed by Matt August and choreographed by Bob Richard based on the original choreography by John DeLuca and originally created by three-time Tony Award® winning director Jack O’Brien. The New York Times praised the show, calling it “100 times better than any bedside story,” while The Bergen Record raved, “An awesome first Broadway musical for kids.” Casting for the New York production will be announced at a later date.
