On THE VIEW Today, when asked about the prospect of her appearing on stage, Gwyneth Paltrow (who was on promoting her new movie, IRON MAN) said that it's something she'd like to do but "not right now." She then turned to THE VIEW co-host Whoopi Goldberg and expressed a desire for Whoopi to return to the stage. Paltrow's name (and her mother - Blythe Danner) had been bandied around as a rumored replacements for Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury in A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC.

As BroadwayWorld previously revealed, published reports were speculating that Gwyneth Paltrow and her real-life mother, Blythe Danner, were being considered to be possible replacements for Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury, respectively, in A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, once the pair complete their run in the Sondheim revival after the Tony Awards in June.

Though this would have mark Paltrow's Broadway debut, she has previously sung professionally and doing a musical is not out of the question. She recently wrapped production on the movie musical "Love Don't Let Me Down," in Nashville co-starring Tim McGraw, and previously starred in the musical movie "Duets." She additionally released a Smokey Robinson cover single with Huey Lewis.

Mariska Hargitay is also reportedly being considered to replace Zeta-Jones in NIGHT MUSIC this summer.

Paltrow earned recognition for her work in films such as Se7en (1995), Emma (1996), Sliding Doors (1998) and Shakespeare in Love (1998), for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress, a Golden Globe Award and two Screen Actors Guild Awards, for Outstanding Lead Actress and as a member of the Outstanding Cast. Since then, Paltrow has portrayed supporting as well as lead roles in films such as The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999), Shallow Hal (2001), Proof (2005), for which she earned a Golden Globe nomination as Best Actress in Motion Picture Drama, Iron Man (2008) and now, Iron Man 2 (2010).
