Goodspeed Musicals will undertake a musical workshop production of an adaptation of the beloved children's book 'Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm' in 2010. Henry Krieger (of 'Dreamgirls') will write the music, and Susan Birkenhead (of 'Jelly's Last Jam') will pen the lyrics. Daniel Goldfarb will write the book. The production will be directed by Christopher Gattelli who recently directed Goodspeed's 'Jim Henson's Emmett Otter'.

The Depression era classic tale of 'Rebecca' was written by Kate Douglas Wiggin in 1903. Actress Shirley Temple starred in the 1938 film version directed by Allan Dwan.

The musical workshop will run from July 29 to August 22 at the Norma Terris Theater in Connecticut.

Goodspeed will additionally produce a second new musical, Band Geeks! and a third musical in November yet to be announced.  For more information on the 2010 season on Broadwayworld, click here.
