Goldstar, the first place now 5 million people go to find something fun to do, announced today the launch of its free Android app, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.goldstar.

This latest release joins the company's mobile-first website and highly-rated iOS app - all designed to connect people to live entertainment events, anywhere and anytime.

At the end of 2013, with mobile usage just shy of 50%, the company predicted that mobile would overtake desktop usage in early 2014. As of September 2014, desktop usage tops out at 37%. Mobile now accounts for 63% of Goldstar usage: 50% on smartphones and 13% on tablets.

"It's an incredible shift. And it happened much faster than we had predicted," says Goldstar CEO Jim McCarthy. "We also had a lot of members asking us when we'd have an Android app available. We were doing a lot catch up on this really."

On his popular live entertainment industry blog SellingOut, Jim frequently writes about the importance of mobile in this business. "There's so much competition for people's attention today," says Jim. "The focus needs to be on convenience, mindshare and the new possibilities this technology affords. Otherwise, potential audiences will find something easier to do - like stay home on the sofa."

Since 2002, Goldstar has been dedicated to connecting its members with the 2200 events (and counting) it lists on behalf of its more than 5000 venue partners, who are spread throughout all major U.S. cities. Now, however people access Goldstar, they can enjoy features such as:

· New events, dates and seats added daily.

· Easy and secure checkout.

· Exclusive discounts and complementary tickets.

· Personalized event recommendations.

· Starring, which allows people to save favorite events, venues and categories and hear when new shows and tickets become available.

· Reviews, directions and helpful tips from other members who have already gone.

· Calendar integration.

· "Sit with Friends" functionality, which allows people to purchase tickets individually and still be seated together.
