The Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th Street) will kick off a series of special anniversary readings November 11-12 with Polly Pen and Peggy Harmon's Goblin Market - the critically acclaimed chamber musical which was the first show to transfer commercially from a run at The Vineyard Theatre - featuring the musical's two original stars, Terri Klausner and Ann Morrison. Evan Yionoulis will direct.

The series of anniversary readings will conclude the Vineyard's 25th-year celebration just as the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning company is poised to begin its 26th season with Julia Cho's new play The Piano Teacher, starring Tony Award-winner Elizabeth Franz, opening next month.

Adapted by Polly Pen and Peggy Harmon from the classic Christina Rossetti poem, with music by Polly Pen, "Goblin Market is an exotic and striking chamber musical following two Victorian sisters on an enticing, sensual, and unforgettable series of visits with goblins in the wood, who tempt them with "forbidden fruit" and change their lives forever," state press notes.

These special concert performances of Goblin Market will reunite the original stars Terri Klausner (Evita, Sophisticated Ladies) and Ann Morrison (Merrily We Roll Along, LoveMusik), with composer Polly Pen and original Musical Director Lawrence Yurman.

Universally acclaimed in its original Vineyard Theatre production, which was directed by the late Andre Ernotte, Goblin Market sold out and extended its run, and then transferred successfully to the Circle in the Square for a commercial engagement. The show received many accolades, including 7 Drama Desk Nominations (incl. Best Musical; Best Score; Best Actress in a Musical for Terri Klausner; and Best Actress in a Musical for Ann Morrison) and was cited as one of the year's best in the 10 Best Plays Volume. Goblin Market has gone on to be seen in many regional theatres across the country. The original cast recording is available on CD from Jay Records.

The Vineyard's anniversary reading series will continue in December (dates to be announced) with Nicky Silver's play Raised in Captivity, featuring the original company including Patricia Clarkson and Peter Frechette. A third anniversary reading is to be announced.

The reunion reading of Goblin Market will be presented Sunday, November 11 at 8PM and Monday, November 12 at 5 and 8pm. Tickets are $30. For reservations, and additional information, call The Vineyard box office at 212-353-0303 or log onto www.vineyardtheatre.org.
