Internationally acclaimed tap star Savion Glover will return to The Joyce Theater for the holiday debut performance of his new show, Visions of a Bible. The show will run for four weeks from December 20th, 2005 to January 15th, 2006.

"The tap impresario will showcase an intimate program of unexpected and innovative choreography to the soulful voice of Newark, New Jersey native Lori Ann Hunter. Savion will also be joined by his jazz band, The Otherz for a final reflective piece which pays homage to the 'legends' entitled Visions Of A Bible," state press notes.

A Tony-Award winning performer, choreographer, and director, Savion Glover is best known as the star and choreographer of the 1996 Broadway smash hit Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk. In 2000, he toured the nation with "Footnotes: the Concert" featuring tap legends Jimmy Slyde, Buster Brown and Dianne Walker, and was the choreographer of the award-winning Nike "Free Style" spots. Glover also appeared in Spike Lee's feature film, Bamboozled. He last performed at The Joyce Theater for a sold-out series of his show Classical Savion in January 2005.

The Joyce Theater, located at 175 Eighth Avenue (at the corner of 19th Street), was founded in 1982 and is today considered one of the premiere performance venues for dance in the world. Since its inception, The Joyce has welcomed over 270 New York City-based, national and international dance companies to its stage, attracting an annual audience of more than 135,000.


Performances of Visions of a Bible will be held Tuesdays through Fridays at 8:00 pm, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm, and Sundays at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm. No performances will be held on Christmas Day (12/25), or New Years Day (1/1). New Year's Eve (12/31) will feature a single 5:00 pm performance, while only the 8:00 pm show will be held on Wednesday, January 4th and only the 2:00 pm show will be held on Sunday, January 15th. There are also two special holiday performances on Monday, December 26th at 8:00 pm and Friday, December 30th at 2:00 pm.

www.joyce.org. The Joyce Theater is located at 175 Eighth Avenue (at the corner of 19th Street) and is accessible by subway via the A/C/E/L line to 14th Street (& Eighth Avenue) or 1 line to 18th Street (& 7th Avenue).
