Oscar-winning songwriter Glen Hansard will perform a solo acoustic concert at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 26, as part of a special event presented by Spectrum. The concert celebrates the Met's current exhibition Guitar Heroes: Legendary Craftsmen from Italy to New York.

Glen Hansard is a prolific songwriter and charismatic performer, both as the front man for the Irish band The Frames and as half of the folk-rock duo The Swell Season. Hansard and his music were featured in the movie Once, and his song "Falling Slowly," co-written with Markéta Irglová, won the 2007 Academy Award for Best Original Song.

The evening will begin with a private viewing of Guitar Heroes at 6:00 p.m. and a reception at 6:30 p.m., with beer generously donated by Harpoon Brewery. Glen Hansard's performance will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. at The Temple of Dendur in The Sackler Wing.

The event is presented by Spectrum, an initiative organized by the Met to provide fresh perspectives on the Museum's collections and special exhibitions.
