Broadway regular Gavin Creel is a two time Tony nominee for HAIR and THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE.

Creel takes on a new role - as a Huffington Post writer - in a column published today. "I have never really referred to my voice as 'gay,'" Creel begins, and goes on to say that "...I know that for every rainbow-flag-toting teenager there are probably tens of thousands of others hiding in the closet, begging for someone to see them...to save them. THAT is what makes me, with my nasal, grating, overly chatty, possibly boring but always fabulous 'gay voice,' want to shout and sing and talk more and more and more."

In addition to HAIR and MILLIE, Creel appeared in PROMETHEUS BOUND at a.r.t. in Cambridge, MA., the 2004 Broadway Revival of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, The Goodman Theatre/Kennedy Center production of BOUNCE, as well as HAIR and MARY POPPINS on the West End. As a solo artist, Creel plays to sold-out crowds across the country and at such New York hot spots as Symphony Space, Joe's Pub, and Arlene's Grocery. His debut pop album "GOODTIMENATION," and intimate follow-up EP, "Quiet," were both written and recorded with long time collaborator, Robbie Roth. Creel has a third studio album being released in spring 2012.

Creel is also a respected advocate for the LGBT community. He was honored as one of OUT Magazine's OUT 100 in 2009 for his work as co-founder of Broadway Impact, a grassroots organization of the theatre community aimed at educating and inspiring the public to join the fight for marriage equality. Through his advocacy, Creel has gained national attention performing and speaking at events and rallies alongside Lady Gaga, Sara Bareilles, Cynthia Nixon, Dustin Lance Black, and HRC national dinner keynote speaker President Barack Obama.
