Glee star Amber Riley broke her silence on the recent passing of her co-star and friend Cory Monteith. The actor was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room on July 13th from an accidental drug overdose.

Riley turned to Twitter last night to express her sorrow. "Yesterday I got to sit with my Glee family and remember a man I considered a brother and a friend," she tweeted on Thursday. "With a very heavy heart, RIP Cory Monteith. Continued prayer for his family and Lea [Michele]. Sending hugs to all you Gleeks."

Riley portrays Mercedes Jones on the FOX musical drama. In June it was announced that she will not be returning as a series regular on the show's fifth season, but will instead be a recurring guest star.
