GIGI's Vanessa Hudgens Addresses Show's Closing On Social Media: 'What A Wonderful Ride It Has Been'
Vanessa Hudgens says au revoir to GIGI!
The Broadway production of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe's cherished classic Gigi starring Vanessa Hudgens recently received its Broadway bow and multiple 2015 Tony Award nominations but announced its closing date later this month last week and star Vanessa Hudgens acknowledged the closing on social media in posts that are now available to view.
Hudgens posted a photo of herself in costume earlier this week on Facebook and wrote, "This was from my first fitting for GIGI on Broadway and what a wonderful ride it has been. Unfortunately all good things must come to an end and we only have one more week to share this wonderful love story on Broadway. I will be forever grateful for the audiences who came to see the show, everyone who made the show a reality and my cast mates who have become family. I have truly enjoyed every second of this journey and am very excited for the next chapter of my life."
The official description of Gigi is as follows: "Gigi, with book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe, features a new book adaptation by Heidi Thomas (BBC/PBS's "Call the Midwife") and is choreographed by Emmy Award-winner Joshua Bergasse (On the Town, "Smash") and directed by Eric Schaeffer (Follies, Million Dollar Quartet). Set in the magical world of La Belle Epoque Paris, where fashion, glamour, and passion prevail, Lerner and Loewe's celebrated musical is a romantic comedy about a young woman coming of age and finding true love. This Tony® and Academy Award®-winning musical features glorious songs such as "Thank Heaven for Little Girls," "I Remember It Well" and "The Night They Invented Champagne."
