It's that time of year for New York Times theatre critic Ben Brantley to pick the theatrical highlights of 2010. Though he admits that the past 12 months were a time of 'creative drought,' Brantley was still able to muster up some highly deserving candidates for the best of 2010.

The list is as follows:

 1. GATZ

2. THE MERCHANT OF VENICE

3. BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON

4. A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE

5. CLYBOURNE PARK

6. LA CAGE AUX FOLLES

7. RED

8. A LIE OF THE MIND

9. PENELOPE

10. THE COLLETION and A KIND OF ALASKA
