James MacDonald's West End revival of David Mamet's Glengarry Glen Ross will open at the Apollo Theatre on September 27, 2007, with press night on October 10 and is currently booking until January 12, 2008.  Designs are by Anthony Ward and lighting is by Howard Harrison.

The cast is Tony Award-winner Jonathan Pryce (Miss Saigon, Comedians, The Goat at the Almeida) as Shelly Levene, Aidan Gillen (Tony nomination for The Caretaker, Platonov, The Tempest, etc. at the Almeida) as Richard Roma, Paul Freeman (Tooth of Crime, No End of Blame at the Royal Court, Hamlet at the RSC) as George Aaronow, Matthew Marsh (The Lightning Play, The Goat at the Donmar WarehouseThe Little Foxes at The National Theatre) as Dave Moss, Anthony Flanagan (A Day in Dull Armour at the Royal Court, Julius Caesar at the RSC) as John Williamson, Tom Smith (Black Watch for National Theatre of Scotland, Copenhagen at Palace Theatre Watford) as James Lingk and Shane Attwooll (Franco's Bastard, The Buddy Holly Story at the Victoria Palace, Porgy and Bess at Royal Opera House) as Baylen.

David Mamet's modern classic Glengarry Glen Ross is "set in an office of cut-throat Chicago salesmen.  Pitched in competition against each other, they will do anything, legal or otherwise, to sell the most real estate.  In this world of high stakes and hard sell, the mantra is simple: close the deal and you've won a Cadillac; blow the lead and you're f…d," state press materials.  Macdonald (Drunk Enough to Say I Love You) directs.

The Pulitzer prize-winning Glengarry Glen Ross received its world premiere at The National Theatre in 1983 directed by Bill Bryden and was subsequently produced on Broadway under the direction of Gregory Mosher.  In 1992 Mamet adapted his play for the screen in a movie of the same name directed by James Foley which starred Jack Lemmon, Kevin Spacey, Ed Harris, Alan Arkin, Al Pacino (who was nominated for an Academy Award) and Alec Baldwin as well as Jonathan Pryce who played James Lingk.  Glengarry Glen Ross was last performed in London at the Donmar Warehouse in 1994.  2008 will mark the 25th anniversary of the original London premiere.

David Mamet's other works as a playwright includes Oleanna, American Buffalo, A Life in the Theatre, Sexual Perversity in Chicago, Speed-the-Plow and Romance.  In addition to translations and adaptations, his other writing includes five volumes of essays, children's books, as well as poems and novels.  His films, as a writer, include The Postman Always Rings Twice, The Verdict, House of Games, Oleanna, The Spanish Prisoner, State and Main and Heist and as writer/director The Untouchables and The Winslow Boy.
