Fox 5's Ryan Asselta to Host UCP of NYC Golf Tournament & Dinner, 7/22

The 12th Annual UCP of NYC Golf Tournament and Dinner will be held on Monday, July 22, 2013 at Brae Burn Country Club and Century Country Clubs in Purchase, NY. The annual tournament attracts 200 golfers from the tri-state area for a fun day of golf and entertainment in support of the vital programs of United Cerebral Palsy of New York City.

The 12th Annual UCP of NYC Golf Tournament will be hosted by Fox 5's New York Sports Anchor & Sportscaster Ryan Asselta and the Event Chairman is John Lombardo of BNY Mellon. Richard "Big Daddy" Salgado, President & Ceo at Coastal Advisors LLC Insurance Consultants will head up one of the Foursomes along with other participating celebrity athletes.

UCP of NYC is celebrating its 2nd Annual presentation of the UCP of NYC Champion Award at this event. The award recognizes individuals with disabilities who demonstrate the power to inspire and lead as role models for people with and without disabilities. The 2013 UCP of NYC Champion Honoree is Dick Traum, the first amputee to complete the New York City Marathon and the Founder of Achilles International. He has inspired people with and without disabilities for decades. He was recently nominated as a CNN Hero and has enabled children and adults from UCP of NYC to participate annually in the Hope & Possibility 5 Mile Race in Central Park.

10:30 am: Brunch at Brae Burn Country Club & Registration

12:00 pm: Shotgun Start - Brae Burn & Century Country Clubs

5:00 pm: Cocktails, Dinner, Silent and Live Auction, Awards and Presentation

at Brae Burn Country Club

The Dinner, Awards, Live Auction and Entertainment will begin at 6:00pm and feature a full evening of entertainment and surprise guests.

Ryan Asselta - Host of the UCP of NYC Golf Celebrity Tournament is a Sports Anchor/Reporter for WNYW FOX5 in New York. Since joining FOX5 in May of 2011, Ryan has been anchoring sports on numerous programs including "FOX5 News at 10," "Good Day New York," "The 10 o'Clock News" on My9 as well as reporting for "Sports Xtra" on Sunday evenings.

Before joining FOX 5, Ryan spent 7 years at WFXT FOX 25 in Boston, where he was the station's Sports Anchor and Reporter. While in Boston, Ryan was fortunate enough to cover five Championship teams from 2004-2011, including the 2004 and 2007 Boston Red Sox, the 2004 New England Patriots, the 2008 Boston Celtics and the 2011 Boston Bruins. He has also reported from the MLB, NFL, NBA and NHL playoffs as well as the PGA Tour, NCAA Division I Basketball Tournament, and Beanpot College Hockey Tournament.

Ryan began his on-air broadcasting career at WFTX-FOX4 in Fort Myers, Florida. From 2001-2004, Ryan was as Sports Anchor and Reporter covering the Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers as well as the Boston Red Sox, Minnesota Twins and Texas Rangers Spring Training. While in Fort Myers, he covered Super Bowl XXVI in New Orleans and Super Bowl XXVII in San Diego as well as the 2002 Orange Bowl, PGA Tour and Champions Tour. Ryan is a two time Emmy nominee for Sports Reporting and a 1998 graduate of Stonehill College, in North Easton, Massachusetts.
