According to the Really Useful Group, Connie Fisher has extended her run as plucky governess Maria in the hit London revival of The Sound of Music.  She is now set to star in the show through February of 2008.

Fisher was chosen to play Maria through the hit BBC reality talent search "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria."  She received glowing reviews for her West End debut in the show.

The Sound of Music began previews at the London Palladium on November 3rd and opened on November 15th. Jeremy Sams (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) directs and Andrew Lloyd Webber produces. The revival also stars Alexander Hanson as Captain Von Trapp, and opera star Lesley Garrett as the Mother Abbess.

The Sound of Music, which concerns a spirited young governess who becomes the matriarch of the von Trapp family, features music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics and book by Oscar Hammerstein II.
