The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum will salute the contributions of firefighters with a weekend of special events and demonstrations on Saturday, July 16th & Sunday, July 17th at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, located at Pier 86 (46th Street and 12th Avenue) in Manahattan.

The weekend will kick-off with a blessing ceremony to honor the FDNY Fleet on Saturday, July 16th at 11:00 AM. Festivities will include ceremonial bagpipers, water displays from FDNY fire boats, a traditional wreath-laying ceremony and the naming of a new firehouse puppy by Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano.

Throughout the weekend, visitors can watch firefighter demonstrations including rescue company rope slides, vehicle extrication, and ladder bucket rescue, as well as ambulance, squad truck and tower ladder vehicle displays.

The activities will conclude with chefs from New York City firehouses in all five boroughs competing in a cook-off to determine who makes the "best chow" for their workers in the "Battle of the Boroughs" that will take place on Saturday, July 16th from 11:30-3:30 PM.

All activities are free with admission to the Museum. For more information and an up-to-date listing of events, visit www.intrepidmuseum.org.

Firefighters and paramedics with proper identification will receive free admission to the Museum. Guests of firefighters and paramedics (up to 2 guests per rescue worker) will receive a 50% discount off of regular Museum admission.
