Felix LA Art Fair Announces Site-Specific Projects

Felix LA is proud to announce the on-site projects for its inaugural art fair from February 14-17, 2019. The site-specific projects will be installed within the suites, bungalows, and lobbies of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, which will host over 40 forward-thinking exhibitors from across the globe, including galleries located in Europe, North America, China, South Africa and Australia.

"The Hollywood Roosevelt offers the perfect environment to stage these projects and presentations, from Parker Ito's floor-to-ceiling paintings in the lobby, to Andrew Berardini's group show of French artists in the penthouse. With Felix, we want to create a communal environment for visitors to experience the energy of Los Angeles's cultural scene and its diverse community," said founders Dean Valentine, Al Morán, and Mills Morán.

Project participants include Kim MacConnell (Tom Solomon Advisory), Parker Ito (Chateau Shatto), Heri Dono (Baik + Khneysser), Kristen Morgin (Marc Selwyn), The French Professional Committee of Art Galleries, Esther Pearl Watson and Mark Todd (Susanne Vielmetter), and Astral Oracles and L (5 Car Garage).

FELIX LA PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:

KRISTEN MORGIN'S CERAMICS OF JENNIFER ANISTON'S USED BOOKS
Kristen Morgin, known for her unconventional use of ceramic, will create a "portrait" of Jennifer Aniston in the form of an imaginary used-book sale, based on titles Morgin speculates the actress may have owned and would-be truths garnered from public interviews. Books include The Art of Loving, I Ain't Much, Baby - But I'm All I've Got, and Marilyn Monroe.

PARKER ITO'S 11-FT TALL HOLLYWOOD PAINTINGS
Parker Ito will debut two 11-ft tall paintings that depict a collage of major Hollywood landmarks, like the Capitol Records building and Chateau Marmont.

POTIONS AND SPELLS BY L AND ASTRAL ORACLES
Astral Oracles-a spiritual community of psychics, witches, oracles and magicians-will feature a booth in the lobby of the Hollywood Roosevelt, which will display bottled spells, astrological readings for Felix visitors by L and oracle Grace Mcgrade, frequency-aligning magic candles, and other magical items.

RECORD STORE FROM OUTER SPACE
Artists Esther Pearl Watson and Mark Todd will present a new work in an interactive installation titled "Record Store from Outer Space," which will include handmade zines created by the artists, a reading room, and a listening station.

The inaugural edition of Felix LA will take place within the private suites and bungalows of theHollywood Roosevelt Hotel from February 14-17, 2019. Felix LA will showcase a diverse selection of over 40 forward-thinking exhibitors from across the globe, including galleries located in Europe, North America, China, South Africa and Australia.

Felix LA's mission is to create an intimate fair experience that prioritizes connoisseurship, collaboration, and community. A return to the hotel fair format, in the spirit of the storied Gramercy International Los Angeles at the Chateau Marmont, Felix LA grants galleries an efficient exhibition opportunity while offering the city's burgeoning collector-base intimate access and maximum flexibility. The informal setting will allow for more extended conversations among collectors, dealers, and artists alike.

Felix LA was co-founded by Dean Valentine along with brothers Al Morán and Mills Morán. The trio have been longtime members of the cultural landscape at large and look forward to bringing their community-driven approach to their homegrown, hometown fair.
