Fashion Designer Niiamar Felder Nominated For Audelco Award For Best Costume Design

Fashion Designer, Niiamar Felder has been nominated for an Audelco Award for Best Costume Design for the Off-Broadway production of Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, by August Wilson. The 40th Annual Audelco Awards will be presented on Monday, November 19th at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre in New York City.

The Audelco "VIV" Awards are the only formally established awards presented to the black theatre community. NIIAMAR joins the ranks of noted thespians, designers and artists nominated for the prestigious award. He states,"I am honored to be recognized by this celebrated institution of American theatre." Some of the award's past recipients include: Tony nominated Costumer Designer, Paul Tazewell, Actor Samuel L. Jackson, Playwright Charles Smith and many more. Audelco (The Audience Development Committee, Inc.) was established and incorporated in 1973 by the late Vivian Robinson to stimulate interest in and support of performing arts in black communities.

NIIAMAR is a rising talent in the world of fashion. His growing list of accomplishments includes ready-to-wear and couture designs that have been worn by Hollywood personalities to red carpet events, including the Academy Awards. He has also served as Principal Costume Designer for the Off-Broadway productions of Sowa's Red Gravy, The Doll Confessions directed by Tony Award Winner Trezana Beverley and Cole Porter's Kiss Me Kate.
