The Box Collective announces the premiere of FROM THE HEARTLAND OF NAUSEA - Meet Alexis James, a Midwestern gal who sees the Virgin Mary in a can of Crisco and hitchhikes up from Union, Missouri on a mission of redemption & pie. New York is her first stop, so get ready.

IRNE-nominated actress ANDREA GOLDMAN* (originally from Missouri) is performing in this solo piece that she has co- written with Swiss playwright MARCEL LUXINGER. Some of Luxinger's awards include the Friedrich-Luft-Award Berlin, Theater Award of the City of Erlangen and invitations to the festivals: Impulse / Politics in Independent (german-speaking) Theater / Black Box (Bulgaria) / Fadjr (Iran). His plays are regularly performed in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

Ms. Goldman is known for her roles of Olivia in Twelfth Night and Calpurnia in Julius Caesar (Elm Shakespeare). She is an alumna of The Flea Theatre and was nominated for an IRNE for Best Supporting Actress for the role of Kia in The Last Schwartz at Gloucester Stage.

SARA FAY GEORGE will be directing. She is the co-artistic director of The Box Collective. Original productions with The Box Collective include: Sometimes at Night, 116 (The New Ohio) and Wild Horses (John Drew Theater Lab at Guild Hall), The Stadt Elegies which tourEd Galleries during the Milan Expo and Venice Biennale (2015), as well as In or Out an immersive piece about life inside a cult.

FROM THE HEARTLAND OF NAUSEA follows the story of Alexis James, she's a woman on a mission to heal the nation, society and faith in justice. Alexis James knows what she's talking about. She has been exploited, humiliated and screwed over for a long time - now she insists on payback. And yes, she's making pie.

"We are in a moment of great conflict and divide in our country." says George. "The chasm between the left and right seems to grow daily and we are left wondering how we can move forward. This piece is about finding common ground and flipping the script on our prejudices." Luxinger adds, "The world could be a great place, with plenty of riches for everybody - if we would finally learn how to care for it and to share them with others. Instead, we continue to get tangled up in hatred, injustice, greed and violence. We have to learn to face each other because and not despite of our many different points of view. We need to bite the bullets and eat some decent pie!"

The box collective explores provocative new ways into live performance. "We focus on ensemble work and principally interdisciplinary ensemble collaborations," says Goldman, who founded the box collective in 2010. Our first piece, La Cueca opened in New York at gallery Solar and the Chelsea Art Museum with critical acclaim. While this is our first solo piece and definitely a comedy, it still resonates with the box collective's mission, "This isn't about performing for an audience, it's about living through this with them."

The performance is set for October 11th at 7:30 p.m. as part of the UNITED SOLO THEATRE FESTIVAL at Theatre Row, 410 West 42nd Street New York, NY 10036. For tickets, visit unitedsolo.org/us/fromtheheartland-2017.
