In this week's Flashback Friday we are allaying to Oscar-fever and taking this opportunity to share a splendid turn from one of the most versatile and cherished actresses of our age, whether on film, television, or stage - the latter of which you can catch her eight times a week in the hit revival of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC.

In this thrilling and rarely seen performance from the 1968 Oscars, Angela Lansbury leads a sensational chorus in that year's nominated Best Song, "Thoroughly Modern Millie" from the film of the same name starring Julie Andrews, Carol Channing and Mary Tyler Moore. This is one of the most exciting performances ever enacted on the stage of the Academy Awards and in addition to this marvelous performance, Ms. Lansbury also did hosting duties and introduced a fresh-faced Jerry Herman with a warm and loving tribute. At this point in time she was white-hot off of the success of MAME onstage and was soon to do the eagerly anticipated but largely disappointing DEAR WORLD, also by Jerry Herman, the next year. This is a terrific and rare capture of a performing legend at the top of her talents and should not be missed!

That's all for this week, and remember if you would like to see a particularly fun, hilarious, bizarre or just all-around excellent performance from the past highlighted here be sure to send us a link! Until next week...
