On January 9th the BLOOMBERG TELEVISION® program "Night Talk" host Mike Schneider talks to Broadway producer Eric Falkenstein, winner of the 2002-2003 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play for producing "Long Day's Journey into Night". His play Arthur Miller's "All My Sons" will close this weekend after a limited run. He sits down with Mike to discuss the business of Broadway.

"Broadway has not fallen off the face. It's not been like the American auto industry. Certain shows may need a bailout, and they're not going to get it...I think Americans will wait to buy a new home or car or go on a vacation. I'm not sure they're going to stop going to theater."

Why he has only produced one musical:
"I think with musicals, but its a little more about being entertained. Not the case with all musicals, but it is largely the case that you will think more with most plays than with musicals."

And what it is like having Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise around the theater:
On Katie Holmes: "Lithgow says it best: ‘She's a working stiff like the rest of us.' She comes in; you're supposed to be there...30 minutes before curtain so you settle into your character and get ready. She always is; she's focused on playing her role to the best of her ability."

On Tom Cruise: "He is a tremendous fan of the play. He is someone who has been very engaged in seeing this succeed. He has seen the play time and time again at the theater, and he's been very friendly to the audiences and everything else. He really seems to have taken in interest in what the play is about and the cast members and everyone in the company."
