Grammy-nominee and Spring Awakening composer Duncan Sheik will take center stage at the Penthouse at Ars Nova (511 W. 54th St.) on September 27th at 8 PM.

"An Evening with Duncan Sheik," presented as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival, will feature older hits such as "Barely Breathing," as well as some newer material.  Sheik will be backed by an acoustic band, as well as joined by some special guests.

Spring Awakening--which Sheik penned with bookwriter/lyricist Steven Sater--is based on the Franz Wedekind play that explores the sexual and emotional lives of a group of young people, who are the subject of "the innate suspicion of the uncomprehending adult world."  The show, which previously played an extended run at the Atlantic Theater Company, will open on Broadway in December.

Sheik, who was nominated for a Grammy in 1997, has released a series of albums that include "Duncan Sheik," "Phantom Moon" and "White Limousine."  His previous theatrical work includes original music for a Shakespeare in the Park Twelfth Night in 2002.

There are 75 tickets available for Sheik's concert; tickets are $50 for NYMF members by calling 212-352-3101.  A "NYMF at Nite" ticket, available to non-NYMF members for $75, includes "An Evening with Duncan Sheik," and three Friday Night Parties at New World Stages.  Visit www.nymf.org for more information.
