The Rewind Show is a vision we have had for as long as we have been in the business of night clubs and event planning. We are tired of the same concept that every night-club in NYC has been stuck with over the years and think that it's time to change the way to party! As we all know nothing can compare to a live performance and therefore we have created the Rewind Show! We want to bring an experience like no other by combining the live music of the 80's Rock & Roll era along with the best DJ's spinning the present hits. Every Saturday night, the Highline Ballroom will operate as a high-end night club to let people experience the Rewind Show. (http://therewindshow.com/)

The Moth GrandSLAM XX
hosted by Dan Kennedy
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 7:30pm
$20

The Moth presents the GrandSLAM, a battle of wits and words - fierce, hilarious, heartbreaking and all points between. The Moth is dedicated to finding intriguing people to tell inspired stories. At The Moth StorySLAM, those people find us. On this night, using words as weapons, they battle it out to determine The Moth's GrandSLAM Story Champion.

The Moth, a not-for-profit storytelling organization, was founded in New York in 1997 by poet and novelist George Dawes Green, who wanted to recreate in New York the feeling of sultry summer evenings on his native St. Simon's Island, Georgia, where he and a small circle of friends would gather to spin spellbinding tales on his friend Wanda's porch. After moving to New York, George missed the sense of connection he had felt sharing stories with his friends back home, and he decided to invite a few friends over to his New York apartment to tell and hear stories. Thus the first "Moth" evening took place in his living room. Word of these captivating story nights quickly spread, and The Moth moved to bigger venues in New York. Today, The Moth conducts six ongoing programs and has brought more than 3,000 live stories to over 100,000 audience members.

The Moth believes that everyone has a story. The Moth created StorySLAM to give those stories a forum.

Following the wild success of our Mainstage series, The Moth sought to accommodate all the people who asked, "When can I tell my story?" and to encourage those people who doubted they had a story worth telling. The Moth StorySLAM provides a stage and a microphone, a theme to inspire and shape the evening, a lively and supportive audience, and a host to guide the festivities. Stories are limited to five minutes, and ten stories are heard.

The stories are scored by three teams of audience-member judges, and a winner is announced at every SLAM. SLAM winners later face off in a Moth GrandSLAM. Since 2001, the raucous, moving, funny and wild quilt of themed stories that emerge during each show has kept the crowds coming back again and again. SLAMs are now held on both coasts, in New York City and Los Angeles!

YOUNGER BROTHER
Doors at 8:00pm, Show at 9:00pm
$25 adv, $28 at doors

Younger Brother is a killer combination of Simon Posford's (Hallucinogen, Shpongle) studio wizardry and Benji Vaughan's (Prometheus) dance music sensibilities. Their first track 'Evil & Harm' which was commissioned for Survival International's 'Tribal Future's' compilation was a powerful ambient world fusion and became the standout track on the first album. The name, Younger Brother, itself comes from their work on this album while remixing samples of the Kogi tribe. The Columbian Kogi Indian's refer to themselves as 'Older Brother' and the rest of the world as, 'Younger Brother' so the name represents the population of the outside world.

Following the success of their first album, they are currently 2/3 of the way through the second album and going strong. They will be playing out all this unreleased material in their fantastic, innovative and very much 'live' sets. If you've never heard Younger Brother then you need to know that they know no boundaries, obey no rules and certainly don't listen to their older brothers! This is a unique sound.

KINA GRANNIS
Imaginary Friend
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 7:30pm
$12 adv, $15 at doors

Kina started playing shows at the age of four in front of her stuffed animals. Now she plays in front of people. It was not the quickest transition for the admittedly shy songstress. While attending college at USC, Kina often retreated to the secluded stairwells around campus, where she could write and sing without being heard. Protected by their quiet, private confines, she found a safe haven for her creative expression and a private outlet for her music. Armed with a guitar and a cup of tea, Kina wrote in every stairwell she came across. And it was within these stairwells that she developed the confidence in her abilities as a songwriter and her poise as a performer. In 2007, Kina joined YouTube, made a music video and entered herself into a contest. A few months later, her video for "Message From Your Heart" aired during the Superbowl and its 97 million viewers (or 194 million eyeballs, depending on how you're keeping track) and she walked away with a record deal. Since then, Kina has regularly posted her songs on YouTube, amassing many millions of views, and toured throughout North America. Her songs have been heard on television shows such as ABC's General Hospital and MTV's College Life. Kina independently released her first full-length album, Stairwells, on February 23, 2010. Her music is both sweet and melancholy, but always filled with hope. She'd want you to know that she saves drowning honeybees from pools whenever she gets the chance.

BLOWOFF Featuring The DJ Sounds of Bob Mould & Richard Morel
Doors at 11:30pm, Show at 11:30pm
$20 adv

BOB MOULD and RICHARD MOREL's BLOWOFF is a DJ event that has become a premier destination for a wide cross-section of appreciative music fans. Originating in Washington, DC, BLOWOFF is an established event in DC, New York, San Francisco, Provincetown, Chicago, and San Diego. Maintaining the musical emphasis of the BLOWOFF parties, Mould and Morel DJ in tandem, laying down a signature mix of indie rock, electro and house, accented by a series of artfully eye-popping vignettes projected throughout the club.

Originally a musical collaboration between Washington, DC-based singer-songwriters Bob Mould-formerly of alt rock bands Hüsker Dü and Sugar-and electronic producer/artist Richard Morel, BLOWOFF began in 2003 at DC's Velvet Lounge. The DC party moved to the legendary 9:30 Club in July 2003, and within a few years became the preeminent DJ event on the east coast. With the focus firmly placed on cutting edge music, dazzling live visuals by Nick Lopata, and stunning poster art by Baltimore-based artist Linas Garsys, the BLOWOFF audiences grew exponentially.

The BLOWOFF artist CD was released in 2006 on Full Frequency Music. Live performances to promote the album included headline sets at Homo A Go Go (Olympia, WA) and the 2006 Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco.

BLOWOFF is now a regular bi-coastal event. 2007 saw the highly successful launch of BLOWOFF New York, with BLOWOFF San Francisco, Brooklyn and Provincetown following in 2008. The BLOWOFF Chicago events held at Metro during International Mr. Leather and Bear Pride Weekend in 2009 and 2010 were the highlights of both events.

Richard Morel is known for his remixes under the name Pink Noise, including the Killers, Yoko Ono, and Pet Shop Boys. In addition, Morel co-wrote and co-produced three songs on Cyndi Lauper's "Bring Ya To The Bring" album and released his third solo album as Morel, "The Death Of The Paper Boy," in 2008.

Bob Mould, founding member of the seminal punk band Husker Du and alt-rock favorite Sugar, released his ninth solo album, "Life And Times" (Anti- Records), on April 7, 2010. Mould's yet-to-be-titled autobiography, with assistance from Michael Azerrad, will be published by Little, Brown in spring 2011.
