Impetus Ensemble will premiere this new work at the Dramatists Guild

“NEMESIS” takes an unsparing look at retribution as a young woman makes it her mission to destroy a middle-aged, misanthropic gay writer by using her 18-year-old boyfriend as bait.

The play blends harsh realism with black-comedy melodrama, revealing the humanity of its deeply damaged characters in unexpected ways and suggests an atypical type of salvation. The play contains strong language and is for mature audiences only.

“NEMESIS” features: Joshua Dixon (recent NYC revival of “Side Show”), David Farrington ("Bodhisattva of Broadway"), Cali Gilman (“The Mad Ones”) & Antoni Porowski (HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire”). The performance runs 85 minutes. Location: The Dramatists Guild in the Frederick Loewe Room, 1501 Broadway (off 44th St), Suite 710, NYC. Admission is free.

Frank J. Avella (Author) wrote VATICAN FALLS, set against the backdrop of the Catholic sex abuse scandal, which was supposed to have its world premiere at Teatro Il Vascello in Rome, Italy this past May, but was cancelled the day before the scheduled opening amidst controversy and death threats. An NYC benefit performance is in the works. Frank recently completed CONSENT, a play that confronts bullying and homophobia, which had three staged readings in NYC in 2011 and will debut out on the west coast later this year. His other plays include: THE MAD ONES, LESS THAN SIX DEGREES, GREENER, THE BUBBLE, IRIS, MICHAEL’S #1 FAN, ABOUT CHRISTINE, UNHINGING, SCREW THE COW, LEXY and 3 CAINS. Seven of these have been produced in NYC; one has been produced in Cincinnati and another in North Carolina. Frank did his Grad work at NYU and is currently a film journalist for newyorkcool.com. He is a proud member of the Dramatists Guild.
