The Trustees of the New York Choral Society announced today that they have appointed David Hayes to serve as Music Director beginning with the 2012-13 concert season.

David Hayes is currently the Music Director of The Philadelphia Singers, a professional vocal ensemble, and the related Philadelphia Singers Chorale, a chorus of professionals and volunteers that serves as the resident chorus of the Philadelphia Orchestra. He also serves as the Music Director of the Mannes Orchestra and the Director of Orchestral and Conducting Studies at Mannes College and The New School for Music in New York City.

Our mission at the New York Choral Society is to enrich the cultural life of the New York community by sharing with our audiences a rich variety of choral music from classic to contemporary pieces, including newly commissioned works, performed with professional orchestra and soloists.

Fostering interest and participation in choral music through education and community outreach, especially for children in the New York metropolitan area. Acting as choral music ambassadors for the purpose of cultural exchange at home and abroad. Providing our singers with challenging, diverse, and joyful singing experiences that enable them to contribute to the cultural life of the New York community.
