Dana Ivey, Dakin Matthews Lead The Acting Company's Staged Reading of THE CRADLE SONG Tonight
The Cradle Song, Gregorio Martinez Sierra's tale of a child left at a conventand the extraordinary impact that has on the lives of the nuns, will be presented as a staged reading by The Acting Company at 7 pm tonight, March 9th at the Pearl Theater, 555 West 42nd Street (10th - 11thAvenues).
The performance-starring Acting Company Board Member Dana Ivey (The Help, Butley) and Acting Company Alumni Dakin Matthews (The Audience, Rocky), Anne McNaughton, Jacqueline Correa, Julie Jesneck, Joseph Midyett, Pamela Nyberg, Myxolydia Tyler and guest artists Gisela Chipe and Amanda Pinto-will be followed by a reception with the cast and director, Jonathan Bank (Fashions for Men), Artistic Director of the Mint Theater Company. Tickets at $35 and $60 (Patron) are available from 212-258-3111.
"The Cradle Song has been translated into many languages and performed worldwide but not seen on Broadway since Eva Le Gallienne directed it in 1927," said Margot Harley, Producer of The Acting Company. "The playwright was a pioneer of 20th Century Theater in Spain, translating and producing works of Shakespeare, Shaw and Pirandello as well as commissioning Federico Garcia Lorca to write plays and engaging Salvador Dali to design sets for his theater."
