On Saturday, September 28th, from 5-6 PM, the DC Moore Gallery presents Gallery Talk: OUTSIDE THE FRAME: Two Writers and an Artist Talk about Alienation, Apocalypse, and the Creative Process.

Karen Shepard is the author of four novels, most recently The Celestials. Her short fiction has been published in theAtlantic Monthly, Tin House, and Ploughshares, among others. Her nonfiction has appeared in More, Self, USA Today, and the Boston Globe, among others.

Jim Shepard is the author of six novels and four story collections, including Like You'd Understand, Anyway, which was a finalist for the 2007 National Book Award and won The Story Prize. His short fiction has appeared in Harper's, McSweeney's, The Paris Review, The Atlantic Monthly, Esquire, the New Yorker, Granta, Zoetrope: All-Story, and Playboy. Five of his stories have been chosen for the Best American Short Stories, two for the PEN/O. Henry Prize Stories, and one for a Pushcart Prize.

Barbara Takenaga's work has been exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia; Mass MoCA, North Adams, MA; Museum of Contemporary Art, Denver, CO; and the National Academy Museum, New York. Her exhibition, New Paintings, is currently on view at DC Moore Gallery through October 5, 2013.
