Cuccioli, Paice, et al. Set for Virginia Stage's SCKBSTD Musical
BroadwayWorld has confirmed with a production source at Virginia Stage Company that Grammy Award winner Bruce Hornsby musical, entitled SCKBSTD will feature Tony nominee Robert Cuccioli ad will be directed by Tony winner John Rando. The production is set to take place January 18 through February 6, 2011. Joining Cuccioli in SCKBSTD are Kevin Mambo, Jill Paice, William Parry, Marcus Lovett, Jayne Paterson, Brynn Williams, Riley Costello, Garrett Long, Rosa Curry, Karl Warden, EuGene Barry-Hill, and Ken Cavett.
SCKBSTD features a book by Clay McLeod Chapman and music and lyrics by Hornsby and Chip deMatteo. The 13 songs included in the muscial were also featured in Hornby's 2009 album, 'Levitate.' The plot of the show revolves around a mysterious stanger with a secret, who comes to a small town and causes serious fear after a child disappears.
Bruce Hornsby has been recognised on a number of occasions with industry awards, including the Best New Artist Grammy in 1987 with Bruce Hornsby and the Range, the Best Bluegrass Recording Grammy in 1989, and the Best Pop Instrumental Grammy in 1993. Hornsby has also achieved recognition for his solo albums and performances, his current live act Bruce Hornsby & the Noise Makers, his bluegrass project with Ricky Skaggs, his jazz act The Bruce Hornsby Trio, and his appearances as a session- and guest-musician. He also collaborated with the Grateful Dead and was a part time member of the band from September 1990 to April 1992.
