The 9th season of New York Theatre Barn's New Works Series continues on Monday, May 30th, 2016 at The Cell with Pre-Premieres of two new musicals: The Last Song of Eddie Scourge and Tink. The evening will also include a sneak peek of Cheryl Stern's hit musical Shoes and Baggage (currently running Off-Broadway at The Cell through June 3rd).

From the writers of Found and The Light Princess, The Last Song of Eddie Scourge is a new musical by Eli Bolin and Mike Pettry. Eddie Scourge hasn't had a hit since his best friend and songwriting partner Jeff Morley O.D.ed 20 years ago. Notorious for his bad attitude and the horrible way he treats everyone around him, Eddie only comes out of his hermitage once a year to put on a corporate-sponsored televised Christmas special. This year, faced with an ultimatum to update his dusty show with a new hit or be cancelled, a late night of songwriting brings out all the ghosts of his past, present, and future. The presentation is directed by Laura Pietropinto, and features Jeremy Morse (Waitress), Jed Resnick (Avenue Q), Allison Jill Posner (Volleygirls), Eric Michael Gillett (The Producers), and Barrett Wilbert Weed (Heathers).

Prior to its full production in this summer's New York Musical Festival (NYMF), Tink will be featured in the New Works Series after a sneak peek in the March 1st, 2016 installment. The show has a book by Tony Marino, lyrics by Greg Kerestan and Lena Gabrielle (A Taste of Things to Come), and music by Lena Gabrielle, In a time before time was important, there was an island full of music and magic, where pirates, natives, fairies and other mysterious folk lived, loved and fought together- until one young fairy and one young pirate crossed paths. When first mate James of the Jolly Roger meets the yearning, idealistic young fairy Tinkerbell, their star-crossed romance brings together the entire population of Neverland, from the mischievous Dream Weaver fairies to the mighty Natives, and even a colony of scavenging boys whose leader fell from the sky. The presentation will be directed by Rachel Klein (The Anthem, Around the World in 80 Days) with musical direction by Josh Walker (Side Show), and features Elly Noble in the title role of Tink, Sean Doherty, Kevin O'Leary, Audra Qualley, Aaron Salley, Josh Shapiro, Melody Munitz, Nicole Stouffer, Anna Stefanic, and Michael Yeshion (Ford's Theatre's 110 in the Shade), and Zakk Santella.

The core of Theatre Barn's new work development process, the New Works Series, showcases two new musicals monthly to both a live and virtual audience. The series incubates at least 12 pre-premieres of new musicals annually. Since the series' inception, the company has presented over 350 writers in more than 80 concerts, and has amassed a catalogue of more than 750 videos and more than 600,000 views on our YouTube channel. The New Works Series is produced by Joe Barros and Mackenzie Meeks, and line producers Adam Chisnall and Sam Strum.
