Corey Mach & Sydney Morton to Star in Musical Theatre Factory's THE GREENWOOD TREE

Musical Theatre Factory Presents: Sydney Morton, Corey Mach, Michael Tacconi, and Jeremy Morse in Will Reynolds' THE GREENWOOD TREE, Monday, March 9th at 8pm.

On Monday, March 9 at 8PM Musical Theatre Factory (MTF) will present a development reading of Will Reynolds' new musical THE GREENWOOD TREE. Inspired by the Sonnets of William Shakespeare, THE GREENWOOD TREE is a story about friends and lovers, and that fine line between the two. With a soaring, acoustic score, THE GREENWOOD TREE is a provocative and daring take on Shakespeare's world of words.

The reading, Directed by Sarna Lapine with Music Supervision by Andy Einhorn and Music Direction by Max Mamon, stars Corey Mach (HANDS ON A HARDBODY), Michael Tacconi (BARE), Jeremy Morse (BLOODSONG OF LOVE), and Sydney Morton (MOWTOWN, EVITA, MEMPHIS) and features Sherz Aletaha, Lucia Roderique, Megan Loomis, Vishal Vaidya, Vincent Kempksi, and Brian Graziani in the cast.

THE GREENWOOD TREE was previously presented as a concert reading in 2009 at the New York Musical Theater Festival (NYMF) and in 2010 as part of the Kennedy Center Page-to-Stage Festival. The show has underdone major revisions since these earlier presentations, and an excerpt from the revised incarnation of the piece was presented last fall in Musical Theatre Factory's 4x15 series.

Will Reynolds work as a songwriter can be heard on 6 time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald's latest album GO BACK HOME, and his musicals include THE GREENWOOD TREE, POEMS & MOON SONGS (Libra Theater Company), THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING (commission for Marymount Manhattan), and with co-Dramatist Guild Fellow Eric Price: AROUND THE WORLD, THE SIXTH BOROUGH, and RADIOACTIVE (developed at the Rhinebeck Writer's Retreat and the Goodspeed/Johnny Mercer Writer's Colony). As an actor his credits include the American premiere of LOVE STORY at Walnut Street, Tony Kushner's THE ILLUSION Off-Broadway at Signature Theater, EMMA and A ROOM WITH A VIEW at The Old Globe, and MAMMA MIA! on the road.
