Constantine Maroulis Presents BC/EFA With $25,000 Check

On Thursday, November 20, "American Idol" finalist Constantine Maroulis presented BC/EFA with a check for $25,000, representing the versatile performer's winnings from an appearance earlier this year on Fox Network's popular game show "Don't Forget the Lyrics."

Constantine made the presentation immediately after his performance as "Drew" in Rock of Ages, now playing at New World Stages. He was joined onstage by cast and crew members from the musical, which features songs by Journey, Bon Jovi, Styx and other 1980s rock bands.

"For me, the donation to BC/EFA was an obvious choice. I've known about the organization for many years and have been involved with the theatre community long before I did ‘American Idol,' so I knew how important this organization is to the theatre community," says Maroulis, a Boston Conservatory graduate with a strong theatre background. The Season 4 Idol finalist - who released his first solo CD ("Constantine") in 2007 - toured in Rent and debuted on Broadway in 2006, taking over the role of "Sammy" in The Wedding Singer. Maroulis continued, "I adore this community, and it's our responsibility (as actors) to get the message out there and continue in the fight. It's nice to have the visibility now that I can be of some real help."
