ComposersCollaborative, Inc. & The Center at West Park to Present Free Marathon of SERIOUS IMMOBILITIES, 6/20-21

ComposersCollaborative, Inc. & The Center at West Park present a free 24-hour marathon performance of SERIOUS IMMOBILITIES, to usher in 2015's Make Music New York. SERIOUS IMMOBILITIES in its fully-realized form consists of two "layers" of music performed simultaneously.

These are:

1) Serious Immobilities - 840 variations on Erik Satie's Vexations, for piano solo, by Arthur Jarvinen
and
2) Spineless Dog - variations on Satie's Vexations, for MIDI keyboard controller, MacIntosh computer and electronics, by Randall Woolf

The performance begins on Saturday, June 20th at 8am and concludes on Sunday, June 21st at 8:00am, with a rotating group of musicians, featuring many of the new music world's luminaries. Artists scheduled to perform include: Eve Beglarian, Jed Distler, Allison Brewster Franzetti, Jeanne Golan, Marija Ilic, James Irsay, Sachiko Kato, Anna Keiserman, Mirna Lekic, Neil Rolnick, Kathleen Supové, Adam Tendler, Isidora Vladic, Nicole Wakabayashi, David Witten and Meng Yang.

This event marks the first time in New York that SERIOUS IMMOBILITIES has been performed completely since its 1998 premier at The Kitchen. Several of the CCi/West Park performers took part in the premier, including CCi's Artistic Director Jed Distler, who has long desired to revive SERIOUS IMMOBILITIES for a new generation of musicians and audience members alike.
