A casting notice has revealed potential July starting dates for a new actor to take over for the Tony-nominated Christian Borle as 'Black Stache' in Peter and the Starcatcher when he departs (as expected) for the filming of season two of NBC's SMASH. We're told by a production source that no official date has been set for Borle's last performance, which remains to be determined. NBC has previously revealed that the series will go back into production this July for an early 2013 Season 2 premiere. 

Christian appeared in both the La Jolla Playhouse and NYTW productions of Peter and the Starcatcher, earning a Lucille Lortel Award, as well as Drama Desk and Drama League Award nominations, for his performance.  He currently stars as composer Tom Levitt in NBC’s acclaimed new drama series, “Smash.”  Broadway:  Mary PoppinsLegally Blonde: The Musical (Tony, Drama Desk, and Drama League Award nominations), Spamalot (Clarence Derwent Award, Drama Desk Award nomination),Thoroughly Modern MillieAmour, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Footloose.  Off-Broadway:  Angels in America (Signature Theatre Company), On the Town (Encores!), and Elegies: A Song Cycle (Lincoln Center).  Regional:  Just So (North Shore Music Theater), The Three Musketeers (AMT of San Jose), West Side Story (National Tour), and The Who’s Tommy (Offenbach, Germany).  Television:  “Legally Blonde: The Musical” (MTV), “Johnny and the Sprites,” “Law & Order,” and “Ghost Stories.”  Film:  The Bounty Hunter.

Yesterday, the producers of Peter and the Starcatcher, the new Broadway hit written by Tony® Award-nominee Rick Elice (Jersey Boys) and directed by Tony® Award-winner Roger Rees (Nicholas Nickleby) and Tony® Award-nominee Alex Timbers (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, The Pee-Wee Herman Show), announced that a new block of tickets are now on sale for the season’s most Tony-nominated play.  

Tickets can now be purchased through September 30, 2012, via Ticketmaster and in person at the box office of the Brooks Atkinson Theatre (256 West 47 Street).

Peter and the Starcatcher opened on Broadway to on April 15th, 2012. The production has garnered nine Tony Award® nominations, including Best Play (Rick Elice), Best Original Score (Wayne Barker & Rick Elice), Best Performance by a Featured Actor (Christian Borle), Best Performance by a Featured Actress (Celia Keenan-Bolger), Best Scenic Design (Donyale Werle), Best Costume Design (Paloma Young), Best Lighting Design (Jeff Croiter), Best Sound Design (Darron L West) and Best Direction (Roger Rees & Alex Timbers).

The cast of Peter in the Starcatcher includes: Christian Borle, Tony nominated for his role as ‘Black Stache’ (and star of NBC’s “Smash”); Celia Keenan-Bolger, Tony nominated for her role as ‘Molly,’ the titular Starcatcher; and Adam Chanler-Berat (Next to Normal) as ‘Boy’,  along with Teddy BergmanArnie Burton, Matt D’Amico, Kevin Del AguilaCarson ElrodGreg HildrethRick HolmesIsaiah JohnsonDavid RossmerBetsy HoggOrville MendozaJason Ralph and John Sanders.
