Two-time Tony Award-winner Cherry Jones (Doubt, The Heiress) will emcee the 2005 Tony Honors for Excellence in Theatre on Tuesday, October 25th at the famed New York eatery Tavern on the Green.

Kicking off at 11:30 AM, the evening will also feature Tony-Award winner Bill Irwin (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?) as a presenter.  Peter Neufeld and the Theatre Communications Group will both be honored with the award.

The Tony Honors award is given annually to "institutions, individuals and/or organizations that have demonstrated extraordinary achievement in theatre, but are not eligible in any of the established Tony Award categories," according to the Tonys website.

Neufeld, who once was a general manager and producer for over 20 years, is now the head of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, while TCG is "the national organization for the American theatre, (that) offers a wide array of services in line with its mission: to strengthen, nurture and promote the professional not-for-profit American theatre," according to the organization's website.

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA) is the nation's leading industry-based, not-for-profit AIDS fundraising and grant making organization. BC/EFA is the on-going, committed response from the American Theatre community to an urgent worldwide health crisis. By drawing upon the talents, resources, and generosity of this community, BC/EFA raises funds for AIDS-related causes across the United States. Since its founding in 1988, BC/EFA has raised over $80 million for critically needed services for people with AIDS, HIV or HIV-related illnesses.

The cast of the Roundabout Theatre Company/Deaf West revival of Big River, advertising and marketing executive Nancy Coyne, restaurateurs Frances and Harry Edelstein and Vincent Sardi Jr. and famed theatre photographer Martha Swope received the 2004 Tony Honors for Excellence in Theatre Awards.
