Cast Set For OUR MAN IN HAVANA at Theatre Royal Windsor and UK Tour
Leon Ockenden joins the OUR MAN IN HAVANA cast in Clive Francis' adaptation of Graham Greene's novel.
Theatre Royal Windsor has announced casting for Clive Francis' adaptation of Graham Greene's Our Man in Havana. This new twist on the classic opens at Theatre Royal Windsor from Wednesday 1 July – Saturday 11 July 2026 with a national press performance on Wednesday 8 July, before embarking on a UK tour.
Jack Ashton (Call The Midwife, BBC; Lockerbie, Sky) will star as ‘Wormold', with Bob Barrett (Holby City and Father Brown, BBC) as ‘Voice 2', Leon Ockenden (Waterloo Road, BBC; Mr. Selfridge, ITV) as ‘Voice 3' and Jodie Steele (Heathers The Musical, London & New York; Malory Towers, BBC) as ‘Voice 4' - together they play over 30 characters to bring 1950s Havana vividly to life.
Our Man in Havana, adapted by Clive Francis from Graham Greene's novel, follows the hilarious exploits of James Wormold, a British vacuum cleaner salesman in pre-revolutionary Havana, Cuba.
Struggling financially to support his spoiled daughter, Wormold is recruited by MI6 agent Hawthorne to be a spy. Lacking any actual spy skills or intentions, Wormold fabricates an entire network of fictional agents and reports, using his imagination and local bar conversations.
His absurd reports, claiming to depict secret weapons, are taken seriously by MI6, leading to real-world consequences as the Cuban government grows suspicious.
A wonderfully funny and fast-moving romp, the production is directed by Philip Wilson, with set and costume design by Julie Godfrey, lighting design by Nick Richings, and sound design by Andy Graham.
After its opening run in Windsor, the production will tour to Salisbury Playhouse (Tuesday 14 – Saturday 18 July), Oxford Playhouse (Tuesday 28 July – Saturday 1 August), Theatre Royal Bath (Tuesday 4 – Saturday 8 August), Yvonne Arnaud Theatre Guildford (Tuesday 11 – Saturday 15 August), Cheltenham Everyman Theatre (Tuesday 18 – Saturday 22 August), Malvern Theatres (Tuesday 25 – Saturday 29 August) and Cambridge Arts Theatre (Tuesday 1 – Saturday 5 September).
Our Man in Havana forms part of the Theatre Royal Windsor Season on Tour, comprising three productions originating at the theatre and touring the UK in 2026. It joins Noël Coward's witty romantic comedy The Marquise, opening in May 2026, and the return of Royce Ryton's acclaimed thriller The Anastasia File, which opens in September 2026, before touring across the UK.
Theatre Director and Head of Venues for Bill Kenwright Ltd, Anne-Marie Woodley said, “This play is an absolute gem; witty, mischievous, and thoroughly entertaining. At a time when the world feels particularly heavy, it offers the kind of joyful escapism audiences are longing for. Philip and the company have created a production that reminds us how brilliantly theatre can lift our spirits and shine a light on the absurdities of life. In times like these, a dash of theatrical mischief isn't just welcome... it feels essential.”
Theatre Royal Windsor sits at the heart of the town, carrying over 200 years of history behind its doors. It is one of the UK's only year-round producing theatres operating without public funding. As part of The Bill Kenwright Group, Theatre Royal Windsor has built a reputation for standout productions and an ability to attract top tier talent to its stage — solidifying its position as one of Britain's leading regional theatres.
