Douglas Carter Beane's Hollywood satire The Little Dog Laughed is on its way to Broadway.

According to The New York Times, the play--which ended its extended Off-Broadway run at Second Stage in late February--will transfer into a Broadway theatre during the 2006-2007 season. Although specifics have not been announced, Julie White--who earned raves for her portrayal of an ambitious, image-obsessed agent--will return for the Broadway run. Roy Gabay will produce the show.

The play opened on January 9th and was originally supposed to have closed on January 29th, but was extended due to popular demand. "Yes, we love the cinema for its great auteurs, its glorious faces, its daring images. But in this tabloid age where big stars go on Oprah and jump around like heartsick schoolboys, what we really love is all that dish!!! Carter Beane's players in The Little Dog Laughed includes a Hollywood agent, her very promising, up-and-coming boy-toy client, a sexy young drifter, and the drifter's girlfriend," stated press notes.

The show starred White, Johnny Galecki, Zoe Lister-Jones, and Neal Huff, and was directed by Scott Ellis.
The design team comprised Allen Moyer (sets), Jeff Mahshie (costumes), Donald Holder (lighting) and Lewis Flinn (sound).

Beane, who is a founding member and the artistic director of the Drama Dept., also penned the plays As Bees in Honey Drown,
Music From a Sparkling Planet, White Lies and Devil May Care, as well as the book of the musical The Big Time and the screenplay of To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything Julie Newmar.
