Camp Broadway to Hold Auditions for Macy's Parade

CAMP BROADWAY®, the award-winning theater arts education company, has been chosen to perform the closing musical number for the 82nd Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade® entitled "I Believe in Santa Claus," with music by Wesley Whatley and lyrics by Bill Schermerhorn. Camp Broadway® Artistic Director, Tony Parise, will choreograph the production number which will feature 300 young performers, ages 10-14, and be performed live in front of NBC-TV's national audience on November 27, 2008.

Camp Broadway® will hold auditions for this special performance event on Sunday, September 21st at Chelsea Studios, 5th Floor, 151 West 26th St. at 10:00 a.m. sharp. Interested performers must complete and return the application (available at www.campbroadway.com) and come to the audition dressed in comfortable clothes, ready to dance. For people who are unable to attend the audition, an application can be submitted accompanied by a videotape/dvd of a 1-minute musical solo and short dance routine to Mr. Tony Parise, c/o Camp Broadway, 336 West 37th Street, Suite 460, New York, NY 10018 no later than September 30, 2008 (no exceptions).

If chosen, children will have the chance to participate in a 5-day program in New York City that culminates in becoming a part of a thrilling American tradition, the 82nd Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade®! Performers will have a chance to get to know children from all over the U.S.A. and from other nations. This program is comprised of four partial days of small group rehearsals and workshops, held in a New York City dance studio. During this "camp", they will learn the song and movement routine from Broadway professionals which will become the closing number of the parade, just before the arrival of Santa Claus. They will also attend performing arts workshops conducted by Broadway performers, and participate in a technical NBC blocking rehearsal in Herald Square. Some of them may have an opportunity to be interviewed by the media, to talk about their experience preparing for the parade. Oftentimes, a performer's local hometown newspaper may want to write about their experience in the parade. Then, on Thanksgiving morning, they will walk the entire parade route, 2.5 miles, among the millions of people watching from the sidelines, and perform the finale at the end of the parade. Camp Broadway® performers get to experience the parade from the inside out.

For 13 years, Camp Broadway® has offered theater-loving kids across America the opportunity to participate in exciting, once-in-a-lifetime opportunities in live theater. Working collaboratively with Broadway's most distinguished performers, writers and designers, Camp Broadway® has hosted more than 65,000 students at pre-theater workshops and special events. The company has also provided tens of thousands of children the opportunity to work side-by-side with Broadway professionals at year-round performing arts programs. Camp Broadway®'s participation in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade® is the highlight of a busy year.
