American Theatre Wing has announced the upcoming broadcast of two seminars on CUNY-TV.

On Saturday, May 20th at 11 a.m., CUNY-TV will air the American Theatre Wing's "Working in the Theatre" seminar with members of the cast and crew of The Drowsy Chaperone, which leads the 2006 Tony nominations with 13 nods.

Guests include Edward Hibbert (actor), Lisa Lambert (music and lyrics), Beth Leavel (actor), Bob Martin (book/actor), Kevin McCollum (producer), Don McKellar (book), Roy Miller (producer), Greg Morrison (music and lyrics), Casey Nicholaw (director and choreographer) and Howard Sherman, Executive Director of the American Theatre Wing, as moderator.

The Drowsy Chaperone opened at the Marquis Theatre on May 1st. "To chase his blues away, a modern day musical theatre addict known simply as 'Man in Chair' drops the needle on his favorite LP – the 1928 musical comedy The Drowsy Chaperone. From the crackle of his hi-fi, the uproariously funny musical magically bursts to life on stage. Man in Chair's infectious love of The Drowsy Chaperone speaks to anyone who has ever been transported by the theater," according to press notes on the show, which stars Sutton Foster.

On Sunday, May 21st at 5 p.m. and Saturday, May 27th at 11 a.m.., CUNY-TV will air the American Theatre Wing's "Actors on Performance" seminar with Best Supporting Actress Tony Nominee Zoë Wanamaker (Awake and Sing!), Best Leading Actor Tony nominee Richard Griffiths (The History Boys) along with special guests Eileen Atkins (Doubt), Jonathan Pryce (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), Best Actress Tony nominee Lynn Redgrave (The Importance of Being Earnest) and Ted Chapin serves as moderator.

The American Theatre Wing is best known as the creator of the Antoinette Perry "Tony" Awards®, which it presents annually with the League of American Theatres and Producers. The Wing's other activities, dedicated to recognizing excellence and supporting education in theatre, include its "Working in the Theater" Seminars, now in their 27th year of telecasts on CUNY TV in New York and on other national cable outlets; "Guides to Careers in the Theatre," a video series developed for schools and libraries; a grants and scholarship program to New York City schools and not-for-profit theatre companies, which has awarded more than $2.5 million since its inception; the Theatre Intern Group, a career development program for young professionals; and SpringboardNYC, a two-week college-to-career boot camp for young performers moving to NYC.
